So checkra1n 0.9.8 beta has released support for Linux , because it supports Linux, so this article I will guide you how to run checkra1n on Windows computers through the use of Ubuntu .

Prepare:

  • Minimum USB 4GB.
  • Download Ubuntu Desktop ISO file here .
  • Rufus to burn ISO file to USB download here .
  • Windows computer.

This is quite easy, you can refer to the article here .

Step 2 : Launch Ubuntu .

Proceed to restart your computer, choose boot to USB where you just created the first USB installation file.

Now there will be a few options for you to choose from, you always choose * Try Ubuntu without installing to run Ubuntu always instead of having to install.

Step 3 : Connect to the network.

If you use a laptop using wifi, click on the Menu icon in the lower left corner of the screen, then navigate to Settings and connect to wifi to download checkra1n .

Step 4 : Download checkra1n (you choose one of two ways: CLI or GUI ).

B4.1 : Using CLI .

After connecting to wifi, open Firefox and access the following link to download checkra1n for Linux: https://checkra.in/releases/#all-downloads

Next, choose Download for Linux (CLI, x86_64) to download checkra1n.

Proceed to copy the file checkra1n to the Desktop .

B4.2 : Using the GUI .

Open up Terminal and run the following commands:

echo "deb https://assets.checkra.in/debian /" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list
sudo apt-key adv --fetch-keys https://assets.checkra.in/debian/archive.key
sudo apt update
sudo apt install checkra1n

After the GUI is installed , click on the menu to see that checkra1n is installed, now you just need to click on the checkra1n icon to use ( Step 5 for CLI )

Step 5 : Run checkra1n .

Click the menu icon in the lower left corner of the screen, type in the search box from Terminal, and launch Terminal .

Run the following commands on the Terminal one by one :

cd ~/Desktop
chmod 777 checkra1n
sudo ./checkra1n

Now follow the steps checkra1n requires to jailbreak your device.

Note : always running Ubuntu on USB can cause jailbreak to fail, you should install dual boot to use.

Good luck.
